Best Indian Restaurants in Glasgow
Glasgow has a looooong history with Indian food. We know we created the Tikka Masala (but it is still up for debate) and we have hundreds of restaurants serving excellent Indian cuisine, from cheap curry houses to fine dining eating palaces. Thank god that even during covid times, we can still eat from restaurants!
From Mother India’s Cafe, where on a normal year you will see queues of people waiting for a table almost every night, to Shish Mahal, the claimed creator of the Chicken Tikka Masala, there’s so much to choose from here in the big city.
Here are some of our favourite spots to get curry and other Indian delights…
We can’t do a post about Indian food without Mother’s India Cafe, that would be a sin. It is a notoriously popular curry house and you really can see why. Instead of a more traditional meal, this restaurant offers tapas meaning you can try lots of dishes, not just one!
Looking for something more upmarket? Head to the West End to Balbir’s for a bit more of a fine dining atmosphere. Enjoy a traditional curry or enjoy their beautiful Dosa with chicken, lamb or veggies! They also have a menu with their lovely Chai Tea.
Koolba is another very popular Indian restaurants with locals and tourists alike. With traditional dishes, and their own takes on classic Indian dishes like their Kerelan Garlic Chilli Chicken Tikka (yum), this is one not to miss.
